Our Journey

Incorporation and Collaboration United Electrical Industries Ltd. was the first factory in India to manufacture Electricity House Service Energy Meters. Initially, the company started manufacturing activities in technical collaboration with the globally renowned M/s Aron Meters Ltd., England.

Ownership Transition In 1957, the Kerala Government acquired major shares of the company and reconstituted it as a Public Limited Company under its ownership.

A Legacy of Innovation UEIL has consistently evolved, expanding its product portfolio includes:

1. Energy Meters

• Pioneering Production: Began with electricity meters and transitioned to Static Energy Meters in 1998.
  • • Production Milestone: Over 4.5 million Static Meters supplied across India.
    • Advanced Features: Manufactured Multifunction Static Meters with features like display of Maximum Demand of energy consumption, instantaneous voltage and current etc.

2. Hot Dip Galvanized Cross Arms A total quantity of 63670 Nos. of various types of Hot Dip Galvanized Cross Arms were supplied to KSEB, worth Rs.153.14 lakhs during the years 2003-2007.
3. Motor Starters High-quality and durable 'Unilec' branded Motor Starters ranging from 10 HP to 200 HP. UEIL Motor Starters are known for high quality, durability, and reliable performance.
4. Electrical Distribution Equipment AB Switches Manufacturing 11 KV 400 Amps AB Switches, including innovative polymer insulator designs, making us a leader in this sector. Initiated in 2007 and manufactured 40,000+ units of 11 kV 400 Amps Air Break Switches, meeting IS standards. Introduced Polymer Insulator AB Switches in 2020, supplying 7,000 units after KSEB approval.
5. Water Meters Offering a range of water meters, including 15mm Single Jet and Multijet models with ISI certification, and now venturing into Smart Water Meter technology with modern infrastructure.
6. Vehicle Location and Tracking Device (VLTD) Launched in 2019, incorporating GPS and later upgraded to IRNSS. As the first public sector in India, we manufacture and supply VLTDs using both GPS and IRNSS technology, with successful installations in government and public vehicles. We became the sole public sector company in India empaneled by CDAC for manufacturing and installing VLTD in public vehicles. 6,000 devices installed so far.
7. Lighting Solutions Catering to Street Lights, High Mast Lights, Mini Mast Lights, and accessories to various LSGDs of Kerala Government as well as Solar Power Plant. This contributes to 50% of the company's total turnover. We are equipped with advanced calibration and testing machineries and infrastructure for LED lights of various ratings.
8. Polymer Insulators UEIL has in-house production of polymer insulators (post and pin type) commenced in the year 2023, utilizing advanced injection moulding technology to ensure precision, durability and superior quality.
